![]() ![]() ![]() I don't care about the "bonus" features - I just want the movie file. I have ripped a library of about 400 movies (DVD and regular Blu-Ray) for convenience of playing back on my home theater without having to go find the original disc. I assume that since you said you wanted to rip the movies to your laptop, that playback quality is not your highest concern. If you do not care about quality, you could use handbrake( ) to convert all your blurays to h265 and lower the bitrate (12mbit/s to 20mbit/s is recommended) which will save you more space in the long run. I thought no way I could get this close this soon given I'm pretty picky with movies and shows but I never took into consideration I would want more as new movies released. I've already amassed over 100 blu-rays and uhds and about 14 tv shows, which aren't all completed series, and I'm already close to my threshold which is 16tb on an unraid server using an old pc. I guess making sure you have the space to hold all of them. Check out makemkv forums for details on this. This is the one I used: if you want to rip UHDs, it requires a firmware but it was pretty straight forward to do and didn't take much time. I would say it's cheaper to purchase internal drive with enclosure. You can use to spilt them and I also recommend using for renaming them. Most blu-rays are separated by episode but some are joined into one so you will have to split them. The short answer is yes in terms of ripping but there can be additional steps. ![]()
